Recruitment Services are seeking a Senior Domestic Abuse Officer for our client based in Swindon. Our client's Family Safeguarding multi-disciplinary teams are dedicated to supporting children and families through significant change. The teams work with Children in Need, those subject to Child Protection Plans, care proceedings, and those who are Looked After under Section 20 on a short-term basis. Using a partnership approach, they support parents and carers facing the challenges of domestic abuse, mental health, and substance misuse, with a focus on improving children's welfare and promoting safe, family-based care where appropriate. Utilising a Motivational Interviewing model, the Family Safeguarding teams empower parents to make positive changes that lead to better outcomes for both children and their families. The teams are co-located and consist of a range of professionals, including social workers, domestic abuse practitioners, recovery workers, and mental health practitioners, all working collaboratively to ensure the right support is given at the right time.
As a Senior Domestic Abuse Officer you will manage, lead and develop a group of operational domestic violence workers in delivering probation services in accordance with the needs of the clients Safeguarding Team, relevant policies, standards and objectives; develop and manage partnerships to enhance service delivery; liaise with and represent the Service to other agencies and organisations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Manage Activities: Oversee and manage programs to meet safeguarding team objectives. Contribute to the development and evaluation of strategies, policies, and performance targets. Work closely with the social services team to help plan and implement team objectives. Support staff development through ongoing training and supervision.
- Work with Others: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key partners, including children's safeguarding and other external stakeholders. Facilitate staff and partner training as necessary. Ensure seamless collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Manage Risk: Take responsibility for managing high-risk cases and supporting team members with risk escalation processes. Ensure staff are equipped to manage complex domestic abuse cases and maintain an up-to-date understanding of safeguarding and risk management protocols. Actively contribute to risk management strategies including MARAC, MAPPA, and safeguarding frameworks.
- Manage People: Lead and supervise a dedicated team of Domestic Abuse Practitioners and Officers. Provide training, motivation, and performance management to ensure continuous high standards of service delivery. Contribute to recruitment, induction, and professional development for new staff members.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
- Proven experience of managing and leading teams in a safeguarding or domestic abuse context.
- A strong understanding of risk management, safeguarding procedures, and the ability to handle complex cases.
- Experience in working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including social services, mental health professionals, and other agencies.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and support staff.
- Enhanced DBS (Children & Adults)
