Rate: £17.57 per hour (PAYE)

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office

Job Summary

We are seeking a Redaction Officer to join the Information Management team, supporting the Council's compliance with data protection legislation. You will be responsible for reviewing and redacting sensitive information in Subject Access Request (SAR) responses, ensuring compliance with the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act, and Information Governance requirements while protecting the privacy of individuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, assess and redact sensitive information within Subject Access Requests (SARs) and other information requests.
  • Ensure compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act and Information Governance legislation.
  • Work closely with the Senior Data Protection Officer, Legal Services and internal departments to process requests accurately and within statutory deadlines.
  • Identify and escalate potential data breaches or complex cases where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records and support data processing audits.
  • Provide advice and guidance to requestors in line with data protection legislation.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, guidance and best practice.

Requirements

  • Experience working with Subject Access Requests (SARs), Data Protection, Information Governance or Records Management.
  • Good understanding of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information legislation.
  • Strong document review and redaction skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience within a Local Authority, NHS or other public sector organisation is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the Children Act and Childcare legislation is desirable.
  • A formal Data Protection qualification is desirable.
  • DBS: Standard DBS required.
