Building Services Electrician

Ref: SOPHEX Location: East London Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm + OT Pay: £26.00ph paid weekly Duration: Ongoing Contract – Long Term/Temp to Perm if everything goes well. The purpose of this role is to provide reactive and planned maintenance support with a strong focus on electrical services. The role ensures all electrical components, installations and equipment across the venue are maintained to statutory and industry standards, delivering safe, reliable and compliant electrical services in collaboration with technical staff, contractors, and the wider Building Services team.

Delivery of Electrical Services

• Provide effective reactive and planned preventive electrical maintenance, including inspection, testing and fault diagnosis.
• Support statutory electrical testing and documentation requirements.
• Maintain stock levels of electrical equipment to ensure consistent delivery of services.
• Work closely with electrical contractors and technical services teams.

Technical Duties & Administration

• Install, assemble, test and maintain electrical systems, wiring, appliances and fixtures.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment.
• Inspect electrical systems, escalating hazards when required.

Professional Experience

• Electrical & mechanical (multi‑discipline) experience in public venue environments.
• Knowledge of critical recovery systems, BMS, maintenance regimes and energy monitoring.
• Understanding ofHealth&Safety, COSHH, L8 and basic HV systems.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.

Qualifications

Qualified to NVQ Level 3 (including Portfolio/AM2) standard in an Electrical qualification or equivalent. For example, but not limited to the following:

• C&G 2360 Parts 1 & 2 (Level 2 & 3) or equivalent
• 17th Edition IEE Regulations qualified
• C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing/Equivalent C&G 2394/5
• C&G 2377-12 Portable Appliance Testing
