Brokerage Officer
Pay: £18.44 – £19.96 per hour PAYE
Grade: G9 | Full Time
Working: Hybrid – minimum 2 office days per month in Oxfordshire, with additional attendance as required
We are seeking an experienced Children’s Brokerage Officer to source and secure suitable, high-quality and cost-effective placements for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and secure suitable placements and care/support packages for children and young people.
- Work closely with social workers, families, providers and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Negotiate with providers to secure appropriate placements and value for money.
- Manage multiple and complex placement requests within tight deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation using relevant systems, including CONTROCC.
- Support placement panels, commissioning activity and provider relationships.
- Ensure placements meet individual needs, outcomes and preferences.
- Apply relevant children’s social care legislation, safeguarding requirements and policies.
- Identify creative solutions for complex placement needs.
Essential Experience
- Direct Children’s Brokerage experience is essential.
- Experience sourcing or managing children’s placements.
- Strong understanding of Children’s Social Care.
- Knowledge of SEND and Supported Accommodation.
- Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-management skills.
- Experience working with social workers, families and external providers.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads and meet deadlines.
- Good IT skills, particularly Excel, Teams and SharePoint.
- Experience with placement/commissioning systems such as CONTROCC is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and commercial awareness.
