4myschools are working with a village primary school in the Tendring area, recognised for its strong community ethos, structured learning environment, and commitment to pupils. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with complex needs on a four-day-per-week basis (flexible days to be agreed with the school and family).
The successful candidate will deliver highly individualised support, working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to tailor learning activities, implement speech and language strategies, and help the child access the curriculum in a way that is engaging and appropriate to their developmental level.
The role will involve providing personal care with dignity and sensitivity, supporting behaviours that challenge through consistent and calm strategies, assisting during periods of sensory overwhelm, and ensuring the child's safety in relation to behaviours such as pica and head-banging. Building a trusting relationship will be key, alongside using visual supports and structured interventions to support communication and routine. You will also contribute to ongoing monitoring, progress updates, and close communication with both school staff and parents.
Ideal Candidate: We are seeking a resilient, patient and proactive Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with complex needs, including speech and language difficulties, developmental delays, and behaviours that may present challenges. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of SEN support strategies, particularly in relation to sensory regulation and communication tools such as PECS or visual timetables.
You must be available to work four days per week, 8:30am-3:30pm (flexible on days - to be agreed in advance), term time only. Due to the location of the school, access to reliable transport is highly desirable. A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial; above all, you will be passionate about supporting children with additional needs and committed to making a meaningful impact on a child's educational journey.
You will need a valid Enhanced Child workforce DBS and be eligible to work in the UK.
