Sports Centre Duty Manager

Duty Manager Sports Centre (Derbyshire)
Pay: £16.50 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
Hours: Full-time 40 hours per week
Contract: Interim with potential to become permanent
4Leisure Recruitment are hiring on behalf of a fantastic sports centre in Derbyshire for an experienced Duty Manager. This facility operates within a school setting but is also open to the public, offering a dynamic and rewarding environment for the right candidate.
Were looking for a confident and proactive leader with strong swimming experience and an NPLQ qualification (essential). This is a hands-on role requiring someone with operational awareness, strong customer service skills, and the ability to support and manage teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the Sports Centre, ensuring safety, efficiency, and excellent customer service
• Act as the main point of contact during shifts, managing customer feedback and any issues
• Ensure pool operations and water testing meet HSG179 standards, including backwashing and record-keeping
• Support the Sports Centre Operations Manager and work collaboratively with fellow Duty Managers
• Conduct daily H&S checks (including plant room and building checks) and maintain safe working practices
• Lead on the investigation and reporting of incidents or accidents, ensuring compliance with health & safety procedures

What Were Looking For:

• NPLQ certified with solid swimming/poolside experience
• Background in team leadership or a senior leisure role
• Strong operational knowledge, particularly around H&S and pool plant procedures
• DBS Enhanced or willingness to obtain
• Able to work a 3-week rota including early, late, and occasional weekend shifts
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
