4Leisure Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and prestigious sports facility in South London for a Duty Manager to join their management team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced leisure professional to take on a varied, hands-on role, supporting the day-to-day running of a busy multi-use sports centre within an educational setting at an independent boys school and college.

The Role

As Duty Manager, you'll play a key role in overseeing daily operations across both wet and dry facilities, as well as outdoor sports areas. You'll take the lead on shift, ensuring high standards of service, safety, and presentation are consistently delivered. You'll also step up in the absence of senior management and support wider operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across all areas of the sports facility, including indoor and outdoor spaces
  • Lead shifts and make operational decisions, ensuring smooth and safe running of activities
  • Supervise and support staff performance, maintaining high customer service standards
  • Manage bookings, activity programmes, and external hires
  • Ensure health & safety compliance, reporting and managing any maintenance issues
  • Carry out regular facility checks, including pool plant and water testing
  • Act as the first responder for incidents and emergencies
  • Support front-of-house operations during busy periods, including handling customer queries
  • Complete opening/closing procedures and financial duties such as cash handling

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or duty management role within leisure
  • Strong understanding of health & safety in a sports or leisure environment
  • Confident leadership skills with a proactive and hands-on approach
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and be part of an on-call rota

Qualifications

  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or willingness to obtain
  • Pool Plant Operator Certificate or willingness to obtain
