An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Swim Academy Lead to oversee a well-established learn-to-swim programme across two busy leisure facilities. This role is ideal for a passionate aquatics professional who enjoys leading people, maintaining exceptional teaching standards, and delivering an outstanding customer experience. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the swim academy while supporting its continued growth and commercial success.
As Swim Academy Lead, you'll be responsible for managing the swim programme across multiple sites, ensuring lessons are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest possible standards. Working closely with a large team of swimming instructors, you'll provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing support, creating a positive environment where both colleagues and swimmers can thrive. You'll also play a key role in driving the commercial performance of the swim school by increasing participation, maximising lesson occupancy, improving customer retention, and growing revenue.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the day-to-day operation of the Swim Academy across two leisure facilities.
- Manage, motivate, and develop a large team of swimming instructors.
- Drive the commercial success of the swim school by increasing participation, maximising programme capacity, and growing revenue.
- Monitor lesson quality and ensure consistently high teaching standards.
- Promote excellent customer service throughout the programme.
- Oversee health and safety procedures and ensure full compliance.
- Support the continued growth and development of the swim academy.
- Analyse programme performance and use data to identify opportunities to improve occupancy, retention, and overall performance.
- Work collaboratively with the wider leisure team to achieve operational objectives.
To be successful in this role, you'll have previous experience leading a swim school or aquatic programme and be confident managing both people and performance. You'll be a commercially minded leader who understands how to balance operational excellence with business growth.
You’ll also have:
- Previous management or supervisory experience within a swim school or leisure environment.
- Experience leading, motivating, and developing a large team of swimming instructors.
- A commercially driven approach, with a proven ability to grow swim school numbers, maximise lesson occupancy, and increase revenue.
- Experience using performance data and KPIs to improve participation, customer retention, and overall programme performance.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- A sound understanding of health and safety within a leisure environment.
- A recognised STA Swimming Teacher qualification (or equivalent from another governing body), or a willingness to obtain the qualification.
