We are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager to join a busy multi-functional leisure facility in South Gloucestershire. This is an excellent opportunity for an operationally focused leisure professional looking to take the next step within a progressive leisure environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the facility, supporting service delivery, leading teams and ensuring high operational standards across the centre.

The Role

As Assistant Manager, you will support the overall operation of the site, ensuring excellent customer service, health & safety compliance, staffing levels and facility standards are consistently maintained. You will also take responsibility for a designated operational area such as Health & Safety, Staffing, Facilities or Programming, while acting as Duty Manager and key holder as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the leisure centre
  • Lead, motivate and supervise operational teams
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and cleanliness
  • Maintain health & safety compliance and safe working practices
  • Assist with recruitment, staff training and inductions
  • Manage rotas, staffing levels and shift cover
  • Monitor plant operations and facility maintenance issues
  • Support programming, activities and operational delivery
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies and customer escalations
  • Assist with reporting, administration and performance monitoring

About You

We are looking for a confident and proactive leisure professional with previous supervisory or management experience within a leisure, fitness, swimming or hospitality environment. You will have:

  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication ability
  • Experience managing teams within a fast-paced environment
  • Good understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Experience with staffing, rotas or operational management
  • Ability to work flexibly including evenings and weekends

Desirable qualifications include:

  • NPLQ
  • First Aid
  • IOSH Managing Safely
