A fantastic opportunity to join a leading UK leisure operator as a General Manager in the vibrant city of Southampton! My client owns multiple leisure businesses across the UK and therefore provides brilliant progression opportunities. They require a dedicated and passionate person to join their team who is experienced in leading large teams and focused on delivering superb customer service.

The main responsibilities of the General Manager are:

  • To be responsible for the day-to-day operations, leading the team to ensure the effective and efficient running of site operations ensuring excellence in customer service and experience at all times.
  • Recruitment, successful onboarding, training, and development of your team.
  • Deliver purposeful 121s as well as performance and development reviews with your team.
  • In conjunction with the site management teams, ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly checks are carried out, along with all routine maintenance to ensure the sites remain safe, secure, clean, tidy and well landscaped at all times.
  • You will ‘own’ the budget and financial performance of your site. You’ll drive commercial performance to maximise potential income, have a great working relationship with the tenant base onsite and accurate billing and account management.
  • Demonstrate a commercial approach. You will take responsibility in delivering the site P&L. You’ll manage your cost lines and identify and develop new revenue generating opportunities and present these to your Regional Operations Manager.
  • Accountability for the overall financial performance of your site including sales, cost lines, bad debt and EBITDA delivery.

The candidate:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a General Manager in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing sales and marketing strategies to drive business growth and achieve revenue targets is essential.
  • Experience managing a team of 25+ people.
  • This is an exciting job in the leisure industry which requires the successful individual to take ownership of their own site. You must be an outgoing character who thrives in and enjoys meeting the demands of a fast-paced environment head on!
  • This is mostly a Monday to Friday role but please be aware that some weekend work will be required.
