Job Summary

We are actively recruiting an experienced Estimator to bring additional value and expertise to our client's established office team. The job role will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for a variety of roofing projects, from large scale refurbishment works and new build sites to planned maintenance works. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, good knowledge of roofing systems, and the ability to assess project requirements efficiently. The Estimator will collaborate closely with the wider office team, clients, and suppliers to ensure competitive and realistic bids that meet project specifications and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse project plans, schematics, and technical drawings to determine material and labour requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for roofing projects.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Review project specifications and identify potential challenges or risks that may impact costs or timelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and tender documents.
  • Collaborate with operational team to develop accurate project timelines and budgets.
  • Maintain organised records of all estimates, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
  • Keep up to date with industry standards, new materials, tools (power tools), and techniques relevant to construction estimating.

Requirement

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, particularly slating, tiling, leadwork and flat roofing.
  • Proficiency in reading schematics and technical drawings.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team under tight deadlines.
  • Good communication skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, and team members.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in construction management or related fields are desirable but not essential.
