Lead complex projects where quality, safety and delivery matter. Are you an experienced Site Manager looking for the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within the defence, data centre and energy sectors? My client is a well-established design, construction and engineering contractor with over 40 years of experience delivering specialist projects across some of the UK's most secure and technically demanding environments. Their reputation has been built on long-term client relationships, exceptional quality and delivering projects that require innovative thinking and technical excellence.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to join their General Works Division, delivering a varied portfolio of projects ranging from refurbishment and fit-out works through to new build schemes valued up to £10 million. What you'll be doing
You'll take responsibility for the safe, efficient and successful delivery of construction projects, ensuring programmes, budgets and quality standards are achieved while maintaining excellent client relationships. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing day-to-day site operations from mobilisation through to completion
- Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently
- Planning and monitoring programmes to ensure projects remain on schedule
- Driving high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance
- Managing site documentation including RAMS, site diaries, quality inspections and as-built records
- Leading site inductions, toolbox talks and daily coordination meetings
- Monitoring quality throughout construction and managing non-conformance where required
- Working closely with clients, consultants and project teams to maintain strong working relationships
- Supporting commercial performance through effective planning, material management and programme control
- Mentoring and supporting junior members of the site team
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced construction professional who enjoys delivering technically challenging projects and takes pride in running safe, well-organised sites. Ideally you'll have:
- Previous Site Management experience within a main contractor environment
- Experience delivering refurbishment, fit-out or new build construction projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing and planning
- Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation and site management best practice
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract documentation
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Good IT skills and experience using construction management software
Qualifications
- ONC or equivalent in a construction-related discipline (preferred)
- CSCS Card (Essential)
- SMSTS (Essential)
- RAMS experience (Essential)
- First Aid at Work (Desirable)
- Fire Marshal (Desirable)
- Temporary Works (Desirable)
- Membership of CIOB, RICS or similar professional body (Desirable)
Security Requirements
Due to the nature of the projects, applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be able to satisfy UK Government security clearance requirements.
