Are you an experienced Document Controller ready to take the lead on information management across a major hyperscale data centre project? If you’ve spent your career in construction Document Control and are ready for a role with more ownership, visibility and influence, this is an opportunity to become the senior point of contact for project information on a major development in Acton, West London.
My client is a growing design, construction and engineering contractor specialising in Data, Defence and Energy, delivering technically complex projects where accurate, well-managed information is critical to successful delivery. You’ll initially be based in Acton, supporting the delivery of two new hyperscale data centres together with associated office, substation and infrastructure works.
The Opportunity
This is more than processing drawings and maintaining registers. As Senior Document Controller, you’ll take the lead on the day-to-day Document Control operation at our Acton project, while also providing guidance and support to Document Controllers across other projects. You’ll be involved from project mobilisation and CDE setup through design, construction, commissioning, closeout and final handover, giving you genuine ownership of the information lifecycle.
A big part of the Senior Document Controller role will be making sure the project team has the right information, in the right place, at the right time. You’ll administer and maintain CDEs including Asite, Autodesk Construction Cloud and SharePoint, managing workflows, permissions, metadata, naming conventions, document reviews and information exchanges. You’ll work closely with project teams, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and clients, helping people understand information requirements and resolving issues before they begin affecting project delivery.
As the senior person within the day-to-day function, you’ll also support and mentor Document Controllers, help manage workloads and priorities, monitor KPIs and drive greater consistency in how Document Control is managed across the business. As the project moves towards completion, you’ll play a key role in coordinating O&M manuals, as-built information, commissioning records, certificates, warranties and other handover documentation.
We’re Looking for Someone Who Has
- Significant construction Document Control experience
- Strong experience administering Common Data Environments
- Experience with systems such as Asite, Autodesk Construction Cloud and/or SharePoint
- Experience coordinating information across multiple stakeholders and project teams
- Confidence supervising, supporting or mentoring other Document Controllers
- Good understanding of document registers, workflows, metadata, naming conventions and information trackers
- Experience supporting projects through design and construction into closeout and handover
- A good understanding of ISO 19650 principles
- Strong attention to detail without losing sight of project deadlines and priorities
- The confidence to challenge poor information practices and communicate requirements clearly
Experience within data centres, mission-critical construction or other technically complex projects would be particularly valuable, as would strong O&M and handover experience.
What’s on Offer
- £50,000 – £60,000, alongside:
- Car allowance
- Competitive pension
- BUPA Healthcare and Cash Plan
- Electric vehicle scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
- Eyecare vouchers
- 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
- Your birthday off
The role is hybrid, with a minimum of three days per week based at in Acton and flexibility to work remotely for up to two days, subject to project requirements. You’ll also have the opportunity to support other projects across the South, predominantly between Bristol and London, so there will be occasional travel.
If you’re an experienced Document Controller looking to step into a senior role where you can lead, improve processes and have genuine ownership of project information, I’d love to speak with you.
