Build the quality engine behind one of the UKs most ambitious legal innovators. Fletchers Solicitors is a fast-paced, entrepreneurial business whose dedication to continuous improvement has now allowed us to widen the scope of our team. This Test Lead role will be crucial to ensuring any new development at Fletchers accurately and efficiently supports our team of solicitors and legal support staff. This is a new role in the company and as such provides an opportunity to shape the QA team as you see fit.

As a QA test lead you will be expected to build a rigorous testing solution from the ground up with the support of a testing team. This will include a Test Engineer and Test Analyst, both of which will report directly to you. Working with the Technical Delivery manager you will be an integral part of the project planning process. You’ll design testing procedures that will initially be purpose-built per product but could eventually evolve into how we test further projects in the future. The nature of our data and the Proclaim platform we hold it in does provide some challenges to standard testing and ways of working. Out of the box solutions will not always be possible and you will be expected to work alongside our lead developers in coming up with new testing practices that give us further confidence in our releases.

We are an agile development team and are always looking to improve upon everything we have done before. As a key member of our new testing team, this role will allow us to make better decisions faster and improve the rate at which we can deliver change to the business.

In Return Fletchers Offers:

  • 35 hours working week
  • Bonus scheme (subject to targets being met)
  • 35 days holiday a year including bank holidays and Christmas Closure, with an option to purchase up to 3 extra days holiday per year
  • Pension scheme with tax-efficient salary sacrifice option
  • Life Assurance Policy
  • Medicash policy to cover some dental, optical and other medical expenses
  • Company sick pay
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity and IVF schemes
  • Flexible, agile working environment with a positive work-life balance
  • Varied calendar of funded company social events
  • Monthly voucher awards for winning nominees
  • A genuinely supportive and friendly culture
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities

Main Responsibilities:

  • Testing: Design testing solutions that can be updated to work across all our various development projects. Work closely with the development team to understand the feedback they need from a test. Lead a team of testers to deliver consistent feedback on development work in a timely manner.
  • Communication: Offer new routes of communication to both developers and the transformation team, updating on the current testing process and where tickets are up to. Provide clear & consistent reporting for any problems discovered via the testing process, feeding back both technical and broad updates depending on the audience. Ensure a route to testing is understood by the business and be able to provide rough estimates of how long it will take to complete said testing.
  • Support: Be able to provide support for the QA team and answer any questions more junior members of the team may have on process. Be able to support a development team in ensuring urgent tickets are prioritised and released in a timely manner. Be able to provide yourself as a testing resource and get involved with the process alongside your team.

Essential Skills And Experience:

  • Expertise in all aspects of testing software development.
  • Experience of running a QA team within a medium to large business.
  • Understanding of how standard development testing is done and a willingness to map that process around the systems we already have in place.
  • Experience with the agile process and how it works in a fast-paced development environment.

Desirable Experience:

  • Proven experience building and scaling a QA function from the ground up.
  • A strong understanding of the Proclaim case management system and how it operates within a legal environment.
  • Experience within the legal sector, with insight into the information needs of both legal professionals and their clients.

About You:

  • Passionate about delivering an outstanding end-user experience.
  • Detail-oriented with a sharp eye for defects, spotting both subtle issues and critical risks.
  • Energised by the opportunity to shape a new team and establish robust, effective processes.
  • Committed to continuous learning and ongoing professional development.
