We are seeking a highly skilled lawyer to join our dynamic and supportive Clinical Negligence Team. In this role you will independently manage a variety of clinical negligence cases, ensuring they are handled with a proactive, client‑focused, and commercially aware approach. Collaboration with our specialist team will be key to delivering outstanding results and exceptional service to our clients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Accountable for running an individual caseload.
  • Providing support, guidance, and assistance to the team to deliver outstanding service to clients.
  • Contribute to proactive and commercial case management and progression across the team.
  • Supporting the Team Leader/Head of Department in ensuring the delivery of the team’s financial and performance KPIs.
  • Effective and thorough time recording.

Key Duties

  • Discussing and agreeing case tactics and planning with the Team Leader/Head of Department and team members.
  • Identifying and driving cases which are ready for LOC, settlement, and service within the team.
  • Working with the team to ensure relevant information is collected and collated to enable case progression.
  • Managing a caseload in a proactive commercial manner.
  • Co‑ordinating the progression of cases with all internal and external parties.
  • Drafting legal documentation including LOC and letters of instruction.
  • Negotiating settlements and issuing and serving proceedings if required.
  • Litigating claims as required.
  • Overseeing the documentation and correspondence produced by the team.
  • Advising the team on any technical issues arising from their cases with support from the Team Leader/Head of Department.

Ideal Candidate

  • Recent experience handling a caseload.
  • 5+ years PQE or equivalent experience working in Clinical Negligence.
  • Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills.
  • Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office, Proclaim and Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong commercial awareness within a legal environment.
  • Ability to work well with junior team members, providing coaching and mentoring.
  • Flexible and willing to commit to achieving results and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent client‑care skills.
