Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Leadership – ensure the team provides excellent client service and achieves performance targets through clear KPI management
  • Progression of all cases in the team up to the point of settlement
  • Provide inspirational leadership to PI including recruitment, motivation, training and support of team members as required
  • Implement and monitor departmental plans to deliver Fletchers priorities, including Project Arrow across PI
  • Support the budgeting process for PI
  • People management – lead the PI department, directly manage the Team Leaders, coach, develop and support managers to achieve excellent people‑leadership practice
  • Work with the People team to optimise recruitment and retention of lawyers in the department
  • Role model Fletchers Values
  • Technical – provide advice and guidance on PI issues; ensure departmental policies and procedures are followed to ensure cases are progressed appropriately and client satisfaction is delivered
  • Work with internal and external partners to ensure the department delivers quality legal services with unrivalled client care in a compliant way
  • Case handling – run a reduced load (~25% of full capacity), liaise with clients, experts, barristers, third‑party solicitors and insurers as necessary; manage pre‑ and post‑issue procedures efficiently
  • Pursue cases to conclusion
  • Ensure all actions as per Proclaim Action List are completed in a timely fashion
  • Accurate time recording
  • Maintain client files in good order in accordance with Lexcel and other quality assurance requirements
  • Delegate and supervise tasks to junior team members where appropriate

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience of successfully leading a Personal Injury Team
  • Experience of running a wide variety of Personal Injury claims including Employers and Public Liability and RTA
  • Ability to deliver excellent client service
  • Good understanding of how to deliver and grow team productivity
  • Experience of coaching and supporting other lawyers and managers
  • Forming and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to role model good practice leadership
  • Technology literate, with the ability to use technology to enhance legal services
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive working relationships with a wide variety of team members
  • Strong analytical skills
