We are seeking an experienced Asset Management Lead on a 3 month contract to take ownership of an organisation's IT asset management capability, ensuring a comprehensive and accurate view of all hardware, software, supplier, and contract-related assets across the estate. This is a high-profile role responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving the organisation's Configuration Management Database (CMDB) , whilst implementing best-practice asset management processes that support operational excellence, governance, compliance, and cost optimisation. You will act as the subject matter expert for IT Asset Management, working closely with Technology Leadership, Service Management, Finance, Procurement, and wider business stakeholders to ensure assets are effectively managed throughout their lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Lead the management of the organisation's IT asset portfolio, covering both hardware and software assets. Develop, implement, and continuously improve IT Asset Management policies, standards, and processes. Design and deliver an IT Asset Lifecycle Strategy covering acquisition, deployment, utilisation, maintenance, retirement, and disposal. Maintain an accurate and reliable CMDB, ensuring processes are in place to support ongoing data quality and governance. Act as the organisation's IT Asset Management expert, providing guidance and best practice across the business. Optimise software licensing usage and expenditure through regular audits and compliance reviews. Conduct audits of hardware and software assets to ensure records remain accurate, current, and aligned to operational requirements. Establish and manage asset reporting capabilities, providing meaningful insight into asset status, utilisation, and lifecycle planning. Oversee the procurement, tracking, security, retirement, and disposal of IT assets. Partner with Supplier and Contract Management teams to align software renewals and re-procurement activities with contractual and licensing requirements. Collaborate with Finance colleagues to support the capitalisation, depreciation, and financial management of IT assets. Contribute to broader Service Management and continual improvement initiatives across the technology function. About You You will be a highly organised and detail-oriented Asset Management professional with a proven track record of establishing and improving asset management practices within a complex IT environment. Essential Experience Significant experience in IT Asset Management, Software Asset Management (SAM), or Configuration Management. Experience developing and maintaining CMDBs and asset repositories. Strong understanding of software licensing, compliance, and optimisation. Experience designing and implementing asset lifecycle management processes. Knowledge of IT governance, risk management, compliance, and audit requirements. Experience producing asset-related reporting, metrics, and management information. Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels. Experience working with suppliers, contracts, procurement, and finance teams.
