After 30 years leading the growth and development of the Positive Futures Group, Dr Agnes Lunny OBE, current Chief Executive and co-founder of Positive Futures, will be stepping down from her role later in 2026.

Positive Futures provides services for children and adults with a learning/intellectual disability, acquired brain injury or autism and their families. The organisation aims to support people to live their best life by providing services including supported living, peripatetic housing support, residential short breaks, shared lives and home share services, as well as a range of family support services.

Positive Futures is like no other organisation. Seeking to make the impossible possible, the team at Positive Futures gets things done for the ultimate benefit of the people they support. Positive Futures' mission is to achieve dreams and transform lives; whether that is for the people supported or in advocating on behalf of staff. With a family-like culture and person-centred approach throughout, employees and the people supported are valued, known to senior management and celebrated.

Since the establishment of Positive Futures in 1995, the organisation has grown dramatically developing its services and outreach across Ireland. The organisation has a well-earned reputation for delivering values-driven, innovative, individually-tailored support which makes a huge difference in the lives of the people it supports and their families.

Trustees, in partnership with 4C Executive Placement, are looking for a senior leader within the social care sector who will champion, on a daily basis, the values of this organisation. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide visionary leadership and have overall responsibility for the direction and growth of the Positive Futures Group.

As a champion of Positive Futures values, the successful candidate will guide the organisation in reflecting its Vision and Mission, fostering a culture of purpose and integrity. The successful candidate will not be afraid to push boundaries, never be satisfied with the status quo and always ask how things can be done differently to meet the needs of the people it supports and their families.

With a strategic focus on expanding the charity's impact, they will ensure financial health, while driving initiatives that promote lasting, positive change and value for money for the people Positive Futures supports. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a values-driven organisation whose work positively impacts the lives of many and to guide the organisation as it writes the next chapter of its history.

The successful candidate will also have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable commitment to the mission and values of Positive Futures.
  • Educated to degree level or above.
  • Professional or relevant qualification in the field of Social or Health Care or Management AND a minimum of five years' relevant experience, at CEO or Director level in the public, private or voluntary sectors, within a care and support organisation, large charity or social enterprise, developing and implementing strategic plans.
  • Successfully completed large scale organisational change and growth programmes and service improvement initiatives within a highly complex organisation.
  • Experience of supporting the annual budget setting process; ensuring the delivery of organisational objectives ideally with budget responsibility of £6M or more.
  • Highly developed leadership and people skills in order to motivate and support staff to deliver desired business outcomes in an organisation of 300 or more staff.
  • Highly developed communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels and across all sectors.
