4C Executive Placement is representing Translink, Northern Irelands main public transport provider, as they seek to appoint a Materials & Contracts Manager. Translink provides award winning bus, coach and rail services 364 days per year, under a number of brands including NI Railways, Enterprise, Ulsterbus, Goldliner, Metro and Glider.
Reporting to the General Manager (Engineering), the Materials & Contracts Manager will be responsible for all elements of materials management for the Translink Group and will also lead and oversee the management of key supply contracts for all Bus, Rail, supporting vehicles and other specific Translink contracts.
This role is suitable for an ambitious and credible senior leader. Someone who thrives delivering large scale organisational transformation, with strong influencing skills, able to build robust, professional relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. The role holder will have an innate continuous improvement mindset, coupled with excellent planning and organising skills.
The successful individual will also possess:
- Experience of managing materials in a large organisation across multiple sites, coupled with responsibility for leading and managing significant teams geographically dispersed, ideally within an engineering or stores environment.
- Qualified to degree level in an Engineering or Business related discipline with at least 5 years relevant of managing interfaces within an engineering/operational environment.
- Track record of implementing robust Lean Management/Operations methodologies.
- Strong experience managing supplier contracts coupled with experience managing significant spend budgets allocating resources strategically.
- Experience of managing people within an engineering or stores environment.
- Strong understanding of health and safety, environmental and employment legislation.
- Lead the preparation, management, and evaluation of contract documents from initial scoping through to contract award, ensuring compliance with procurement regulations and value for money.
Desirable:
- Materials Management systems experience.
- To be chartered in their respective discipline or can demonstrate how they are working towards chartered status.
- Trade Union engagement.
