Rowton Castle is a privately owned 17th-century Grade II* listed venue set in the Shropshire countryside, just outside Shrewsbury. We are a high-volume, exclusive-use wedding venue, delivering 150+ weddings per year, alongside a busy food & beverage operation including a 40-cover restaurant, bar, and 19 boutique bedrooms.
We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of weddings, events, and hospitality operations across the venue. You will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with the Weddings Office to ensure seamless delivery from planning through to execution.
This role includes full participation in operational shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts, where you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of late-night wedding operations and overnight venue presence when required.
- Oversee the daily running of weddings, events, restaurant, bar, and wider venue operations
- Lead and support Venue Supervisors across all shifts
- Work closely with the Weddings Office to ensure seamless delivery from planning to execution
- Act as senior operational lead on weddings, including floor presence during service and guest experience delivery
- Work hands-on during service, including bar, restaurant, and wedding breakfast operations when required
- Carry out sleep-in shifts and late event cover, ensuring smooth overnight venue operations where needed
- Manage rotas and staffing levels across all operational teams
- Manage stock control, bar ordering, cellar management, and operational supplies
- Ensure consistent service standards across food & beverage and wedding delivery
- Support recruitment, training, and development of supervisory and FOH teams
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, licensing, and venue procedures
Proven experience in food & beverage and front-of-house leadership is essential. You should be confident working across weddings, restaurant service, and bar operations, and comfortable working hands-on shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins. Experience working alongside kitchen, events, and admin teams is also required. A full UK driving licence is necessary.
This is a full-time role requiring flexibility. Evening, weekend, and bank holiday work is essential due to the nature of weddings and events. Sleep-in shifts will be required as part of operational coverage for late-night weddings and venue security/oversight.
