IMG Arena represents the betting data and streaming rights to a number of high profile properties including the UFC, Wimbledon tennis, US Open tennis, French Open tennis, PGA Tour and DP World Tour golf. The Role
The role will support the IMG Arena and Open Bet businesses.
The role will include supporting the legal team with (i) the acquisition and sale of betting data and streaming rights for the IMG Arena business and (ii) the drafting and negotiation of services agreements for the various Open Bet technology and content products. The candidate will also be expected to provide ad hoc legal support to the IMG Arena and Open Bet businesses on other ancillary legal issues relating to the businesses.
You will be required to handle your own caseload. As such, the role is looking for lawyers who seek responsibility, are team players and have a positive attitude.
You will be a qualified lawyer (2-3 PQE) with previous experience working in a commercial environment, ideally in-house legal experience within a sports and/or betting/casino organisation.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Providing legal support for the (i) acquisition and sale of betting rights, (ii) Open Bet suite of products and services and (iii) other matters ancillary to the betting business
Pro-actively working with the legal team (London and International colleagues) to ensure that best practice and knowledge is understood, shared and utilised amongst the team
Liaise with the business so that commercial, pragmatic and salient advice and guidance on business opportunities can be followed at all times
Assisting with new projects as and when appropriate
Knowledge and Experience
Mandatory
Qualified lawyer with 2-3 years PQE who has worked in a commercial environment
Experience of drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
Desirable
In-house legal experience within a betting or media organisation
Has an interest in sport/betting
Experience of working with high level executives in own and client/customer organisations
Skills and Abilities
Mandatory
The ability to assimilate and understand salient points of commercial opportunities with both speed and accuracy
Excellent written and spoken English with a meticulous attention to and for detail
Ability to juggle and prioritise a varied and heavy workload with the ability to plan ahead
Able to work to deadlines with efficiency and accuracy
Able to communicate clearly and concisely with clients of all levels both internally and externally
Fully qualified Solicitor (2-3 PQE)
