The Role
To contribute to 42T’s client projects that have electronics and/or software content. The role will also include the use of modern engineering tools, including AI-assisted tools, to support development and problem-solving. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working between both disciplines, as they will be contributing to electronic design, developing embedded systems and supporting the delivery of innovative, high-quality solutions for a range of clients.
Main Duties / Key Responsibilities
- The core responsibility will be to help deliver high quality consulting engineering services to our clients.
- Work with other project team members, including the project technical lead, to understand customer requirements and define solutions that meet those requirements.
- Development of firmware and software for operating electronic systems or for test systems.
- Design of electronic circuits.
- Analysis & modelling of circuit and system performance.
- Definition of test schedules and test electronic circuits and systems.
- Contribute to the development of electronic systems which may comprise some or all of: Instrumentation and sensing systems, Control and embedded systems, Power electronics, Communications interfaces.
About You
Knowledge and Skills
Essential:
- Undergraduate degree in electronic engineering, computer science or similar discipline.
- Experience analysing, designing, constructing & testing electronic circuits during degree projects.
- Test experience should include use of basic electronics test equipment such as oscilloscopes and DVMs.
- Experience of schematic entry tools such as KiCAD, Eagle or Altium.
Desirable:
- Post graduate qualification (Master/PHD) in electronics engineering, computer science or similar discipline.
- Experience analysing, designing & testing electronic circuits as a result of summer placements, internships or as a hobby.
- Experience combining electronics and software in practical projects (e.g. embedded systems, robotics, IoT).
- Familiarity with data processing, algorithm development, or modern software techniques (e.g. basic machine learning or AI concepts).
- Experience writing VHDL for FPGAs.
- Matlab experience for analysing data, developing algorithms and model creation.
