My client is a specialist design and build contractor delivering complex projects across the data centre, defence and energy sectors. Their reputation has been built on technical excellence, innovation and delivering projects where quality, collaboration and engineering expertise are fundamental to success. They are now looking for a Design Manager to join a flagship hyperscale data centre development in West London, leading the design function across one of the UK's most technically demanding construction projects.
The Opportunity
This is a key leadership role where you'll take responsibility for design delivery from bid stage through to project completion, ensuring designs are compliant, buildable, commercially viable and aligned with programme, quality and client requirements. You'll coordinate architects, consultants, designers and specialist subcontractors, managing design programmes, technical reviews and approvals to ensure information is delivered on time and supports construction activities. You'll also play a key role in identifying value engineering opportunities, managing design risks, resolving technical challenges and ensuring all designs comply with Building Regulations, CDM requirements and project specifications.

We're Looking for Someone Who Has
- Proven experience managing design delivery through both pre-construction and live construction phases.
- A strong background working for a main contractor or specialist design and build contractor.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams across complex construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM requirements and construction design principles.
- Experience managing design programmes, technical reviews, approvals and change control processes.
- A proven track record of identifying value engineering opportunities while maintaining quality and buildability.
- Experience within data centres, mission critical, defence, energy, industrial or other technically complex construction environments would be highly desirable.
- A degree or equivalent professional experience together with a relevant industry qualification such as RIBA, CIOB, ICE or similar.
- SMSTS and a CSCS Card (Black preferred) are also required.
We're looking for someone who can provide technical leadership, challenge design solutions where appropriate and ensure projects are delivered right first time.
