Facilities and Maintenance Engineer Manchester, UK

3t is currently looking to recruit a Facilities and Maintenance Engineer on a permanent contract located in Urmston, Manchester, England.

Salary and Benefits Package

  • Holiday entitlement of 33 days (including mandatory days off to cover Christmas and New Year)

This role is contracted at 40 hours per week (8 hours per day, Monday to Friday).

The Role

Role Purpose

The Maintenance & Facilities Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of all site facilities.

Scope

  • 3t Utilities (based in Manchester)
  • Maintenance of buildings, classrooms, and workshop areas.
  • Management and replenishment of stock and deliveries.
  • Ensuring all essential services; lighting, electrical systems, plumbing, and canteen facilities are functioning to a high standard.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilities & Maintenance
  • Carry out routine inspections and maintenance of site facilities including classrooms, workshops, offices, and communal areas

• Ensure all building systems are operational, including

  • Lighting and electrical systems
  • Plumbing and toilet facilities
  • Heating and ventilation
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs or arrange external contractors where necessary
  • Maintain a safe working environment in line with health & safety regulations
  • Site Operations
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the site and resolve facilities-related issues promptly
  • Oversee cleanliness, organisation, and general upkeep of all areas
  • Ensure canteen and staff facilities remain operational, clean, and stocked
  • Conduct regular site checks to identify and address potential issues proactively
  • Stock & Deliveries
  • Ordering of consumables required for training e. g. cable or pipework
  • Manage stock levels of maintenance supplies, tools, and consumables
  • Conduct regular stock takes and maintain accurate records
  • Receive, check, and log deliveries, ensuring correct storage and distribution
  • Coordinate movement of equipment and materials across site
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance work
  • Work with external contractors and ensure work is carried out safely and to standard
  • Support risk assessments and safety audits

  • The Person
  • Demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance or a similar role
  • Broad practical knowledge of building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, and general repairs
  • Ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues
  • Strong organisational skills, with experience managing stock and deliveries
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Health & Safety certification (e. g., IOSH/NEBOSH)
  • Experience working in educational, training, or workshop environments
