3t Drilling Systems, the worldwide leader in the manufacture of 3D simulations for the oil & gas industry, are looking for talented placement students to join our friendly software team for a 30-week placement starting in June 2026. This will involve developing, deploying, and maintaining the various software systems that make up our immersive simulation solutions, including real-time physics models, innovative user interfaces, physical “cyber chairs” and 3D graphics software for projection domes, large multi-screen video walls and VR. Roles are available within the team to suit a range of technical skills. The roles will be based primarily in our Bournemouth office, with opportunities for international travel to regional offices and customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Behavioural/physics model programming in C# or C++
  • UI programming in .NET, WPF, WinForms
  • Graphics programming and VR development in Unity
  • Web dashboard development in AWS, React, Node.js, Docker
  • Exercise scripting in C#, Python or similar
  • Software QA using Jira and Zephyr
  • Test Automation with Ranorex

Knowledge & Skills

  • Atlassian toolset and workflow; Jira, Confluence
  • Source control and principles; SVN, Unity Version Control (Plastic SCM), Bitbucket
  • Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies
  • Closed AI/ML technologies and their integration into proprietary software applications
