3t is currently looking to recruit a Buyer / Senior Buyer on a permanent contract located in Bournemouth, UK. 3t Drilling Systems develop and manufacture advanced simulation technology solutions that improve safety and efficiency in the oil and gas industry. With over 1500 simulators deployed in over 60 countries, we are the largest global provider of drilling simulators. Our experience in the design, manufacture, installation, and deployment of simulators allows us to offer a unique solution for any individual requirement.
Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will have full responsibility for the supply chain process as well as optimising cost, quality and service.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage procurement of materials, goods and services throughout 3t Drilling Systems.
- Negotiate best price / lead times with suppliers.
- Regularly process MRP: analyse, RFQ’s, negotiate price and delivery dates and place PO.
- Weekly Open Order Report – prepare, chase suppliers, update Priority and send report to Production Manager.
- Expediting active PO’s.
- Identify EOL items and propose alternatives.
- Monthly Vendor Performance Report – prepare, analyse, raise issues with suppliers and send report to Production Manager.
- Raise POs for all departments in addition to MRP requirements either via emailed request or Purchase Requisition Form.
- Manage ad hoc stock requirements as well as production stock (stationery etc.).
- Maintain vendor register.
- Build and maintain supplier relationships.
- Carry out Supplier Audits as per Purchasing Procedure.
- Inventory management.
- Works Order kitting.
- Facilitate Contractors: raise PO, check RAMS, Liability Insurance are on file and prepare Contractor Access Form for authorisation.
- Maintain Monthly Racking Safety Checks in Stores and Production and update register.
- Facilitate external stock audit.
- Manage Vendor Returns and NCR’s.
- Work with Finance team to resolve invoice queries.
- Attend BSI and internal audits as required.
- Delivery and collection of components as required.
- Responsible for facilities and vehicle inspections / maintenance.
- Ensure works vehicles are always maintained and useable.
- Receive and distribute post.
- Manage and control supply chain for 3t Digital.
The Person
- Previous experience in a similar role and use of an ERP system.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Numerically astute with proven problem solving skills.
- Results driven.
- Commercial and Financial awareness.
- Highly focused, flexible and well‑motivated.
- A positive attitude to handling internal and external relationships.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Capable of working both independently as well as part of the wider team.
Other Requirements
- Internal auditing experience is a preference.
- Fire Marshal (external training to be provided).
- Computer literate including Excel to a high standard.
