Job Description Trainee Estimator / Estimator – Bedford \ N A leading flooring subcontractor in Bedford has an opportunity for a Trainee Estimator or Estimator to join their commercial team. Hybrid working is available after a training period. The Role – Trainee Estimator / Estimator \ N This is a full-time, office-based role with regular site visits. You will assist with and develop skills in: \ N \n \n Reviewing drawings and specifications \ N \n Quantity take-offs \ N \n Preparing estimates and costings \ N \n Pricing bills ofquantities and producing lump-sum tenders \ N \n Supplier and subcontractor enquiries \ N \n Comparing quotations and supporting procurement \ N \n Assisting with tender submissions \ N \n Supporting contract administration and commercial reporting \ N \n Carrying out sitesurveys 1–2 times per week \ N \n Working on projects requiring security clearance \ N \n You will typicallymanage 7–8 live tenders at any one time, valued between £50,000 and £1.5m. This role is suitable for: \ N \n \n Trainees \ N \n Candidates looking for a career change \ N \n Experienced Estimators \ N The Right Person – Trainee Estimator / Estimator \ N \n \n 5 GCSEs including a C in Maths \ N \n Must be able to drive \ N \n Good attention todetail \ N \n Able to juggle multiple tenders and deadlines in a high-pressure environment \ N \n Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel \ N \n Strong organisational and communication skills \ N \n Able to work independently and within a team \ N \n Experience in negotiation is beneficial \ N \n Comfortable working on security-cleared projects (training provided) \ N Working Hours \n 8.30am – 5.00pm Hybrid working available after a training period.
