The Opportunity 3Sixty Talent Management is recruiting on behalf of an established client within the commercial construction sector for an experienced Pre-Construction Estimator to join their team in Bedford. Our client delivers a wide range of projects across commercial construction, building services, fit-out, refurbishment, commercial interiors and electrical contracting.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator who enjoys being involved from the early stages of a project, working closely with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to produce accurate and competitive tenders. The successful candidate will play an important role in the pre-construction process, helping to ensure projects are accurately costed, commercially viable and ready for successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate estimates and competitive tender submissions for commercial construction projects valued up to £250,000. Review and interpret drawings, specifications and other project documentation. Complete detailed material and labour take-offs to establish accurate project costs. Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations. Work closely with clients to clarify project requirements and specifications. Raise and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) where necessary.
Understand construction methods, project sequencing and associated costs. Use internal estimating and quotation systems to prepare detailed cost proposals. Attend site surveys, client meetings and project visits when required. Participate in tender reviews, project handovers and close-out meetings. Support the wider business with pre-construction planning and provide regular progress updates.
Skills and Experience Required We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of commercial construction estimating who can confidently manage the tendering process and work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have: Proven experience in an Estimator or Pre-Construction Estimator position within commercial construction. A minimum NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations (Estimating). Experience preparing estimates and managing the full tender submission process.
The ability to interpret technical drawings and construction specifications. A good understanding of labour, material and subcontractor costs. Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail. Confident communication and negotiation skills. Good IT skills and the ability to learn internal estimating systems. A proactive approach, with the ability to manage deadlines and work independently. Interested?
