In a nutshell, our client has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions across multiple sectors, working on complex and high-profile projects. Due to significant growth and expansion, we are looking for an experienced Applications / Design Engineer to join their Engineering team. This role bridges design, manufacturing, and customer engagement to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.

What's involved for the Applications / Design Engineer:

  • Develop detailed technical designs and contract-specific work instructions.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of all engineering systems, processes, and company-specific applications.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing to ensure safe, efficient use of resources and timely delivery.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for customers, ensuring smooth communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with clerical staff to support procurement, purchasing, and accurate project invoicing.
  • Represent the company at client meetings as required.
  • Participate in occasional out-of-hours client activities following Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
  • Manage engineering orders to ensure projects meet budget, schedule, specification, and quality standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with the company's Business Management System within your area of responsibility.

What you'll need:

  • Understanding of engineering systems and manufacturing processes.
  • CAD experience advantageous.
  • Proven ability to interpret and create technical drawings and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with customers, colleagues, and cross-functional teams.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and priorities to meet tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
  • Previous experience in Applications / CAD design or Electrical engineering experience wanting to progress.
