Our client is a well-established and forward-thinking manufacturing business operating within the electromechanical industry supplying products all over the world. Due to continued growth and an increasing project workload, they are now looking to expand their department with the addition of an Applications / Design Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop a long‑term career within a highly technical and specialist industry.
You will play a key role supporting the design, specification, costing, and compliance aspects of projects while working closely with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal departments. The ideal applicant will have previous experience within product engineering, building services, or a similar technical environment. Full support and ongoing development will be provided for the right individual.
What's involved for the Applications / Design Engineer:
- Producing M&E schedules and designs
- Preparing quotations and project costings
- Compiling heat/load calculations
- Calculating pipe sizes
- Creating and reviewing system specifications and components
- Liaising with suppliers and manufacturers to review specifications
- Assisting with O&M manuals
- Creating BREEAM statements
- Ensuring compliance with current legislation and industry standards
- Supporting the projects team with technical requirements
What you'll need:
- Engineering, Electrical or Building Services background within design, applications, sales engineering, or field engineering
- Good computer literacy
- The ability to work to tight deadlines
- High attention to detail
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic CAD experience
- IDEAL Electrical qualifications or knowledge IDEAL BUT NOT ESSENTIAL
- Applications at a junior level also considered
