About the Assignment

t3Roc Technology is seeking an experienced Sun Solaris Engineer to support a major enterprise data centre migration programme. This is a hands-on engineering assignment focused on the successful delivery of migration activities across complex Solaris environments. The successful contractor will work alongside client delivery teams and other specialist suppliers to support build, migration and cutover activities within mission-critical infrastructure. This opportunity would suit an experienced Solaris specialist who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and delivering successful infrastructure transformation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Solaris 8, 9, 10, and 11 environments, including installation, patching, and upgrades
  • Support Solaris Cluster (Cluster 3/4) environments
  • Deliver infrastructure migration activities, including build, testing and transition
  • Support planned cutover activities, including occasional out-of-hours implementation windows
  • Troubleshoot technical issues across live enterprise environments
  • Collaborate with technical teams and third-party suppliers to deliver successful project outcomes
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation as required

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on Sun Solaris administration experience
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise Solaris environments
  • Experience with Solaris Clustering technologies
  • Experience delivering infrastructure migrations or major technology transformation projects
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Oracle RAC exposure
  • Bash or other scripting experience
  • Experience within financial services, telecommunications, government or other large enterprise environments
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or data centre migration programmes

Day rate up to £600 depending on experience

Remote working with occasional travel as required

Initial 12-month assignment with potential for extension
