The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Trade Compliance Administrator at 3M UK, Skelmersdale plant, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, You Will Make An Impact By:
- Handling all UK Customs Self Filing & Transit activities for the Skelmersdale site
- Communicating regularly with senior business management, HMRC and other Governmental agencies to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- Ensuring smooth flow of daily Customs entry processing for Transit and Self Filing within the SAP/GTS system
- Completing checks of declarations to ensure accuracy and timely completion
- Notifying HMRC of any irregularities immediately via post entry processes
- Applying for Customs approvals and licences when required
- Ensuring compliance to the businesses Internal Trade Compliance policies
- Preparing Customs declaration reports
- Communicating with HMRC in case of any Customs specific business enquiries
- Creating documents & enhancing Trade Compliance processes (where required) and creating & analysing Trade Compliance reports and metrics
- Participating in Trade Compliance projects or projects where Trade Compliance representation is required
- Supporting internal and external audits
Your Skills And Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet the following minimum requirements:
- Proven track record of successfully handling Import/Export clearances
- Knowledge and experience of customs declaration requirements
- Experience and knowledge of HTS classification, country of origin/FTA / IPR / OPR / export controls
- Current knowledge of customs import/export legislation, commercial documentation & the HMRC tariff
- Ability to stay up to date with changing regulations and processes and adapt quickly
- Good standard of education - to include GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
- Process minded, analytical mindset and attention to details
- Proficiency in Microsoft skills
- Ability to work under pressure - workload and/or time constraints
- Good communication skills (Verbal and Written)
- Ability to work both within a direct team as well as remote team
- Ability to work independently
Additional knowledge / nice-to-have skills / preferred qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Desire to gain relevant qualifications relating to Customs and Trade Compliance
- Professional training at least an intermediate award in International Trade
