The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Plant Maintenance Fitter at 3M Bangor, Northern Ireland, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. The Maintenance fitter will be responsible for both maintaining and improving manufacturing production operation equipment, aligned with EHS, Quality, service and cost. Working as part of a shift team on a site operating 24/5.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role:

  • Providing plant wide support for both reactive and proactive mechanical repairs and improvements
  • Manufacturing equipment fault finding
  • Equipment reliability improvement project work
  • Preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facilities
  • Ensuring we have critical spares available for our equipment
  • Assist with energy consumption reduction projects
  • Assist multi-skilled shift technician as part of a team
  • Be prepared to work to a shift pattern and cover any holidays, sickness or extra production

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet the following minimum requirements:

  • This person will need to be time served in a mechanical discipline, preferably in a manufacturing facility (HNC, City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent)
  • Preferably knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technology
  • Proven experience in team working
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to a high EHS standard: 3M has a proud EHS history, and we are constantly trying to improve our safety performance

Additional knowledge that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience with chemical handling equipment and ATEX regulations
  • Experience in the paper manufacturing industry
