As an Application Engineer for the Automotive Aftermarket Division you will have the opportunity to put your curiosity to good use and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people in the world. Here's how to make an impact:

  • Showcase 3M products, process, and digital solutions, demonstrating how they can improve profitability for bodyshop customers.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with end users and distributor partners.
  • Deliver hands‑on product demonstrations and training sessions for both internal and external audiences, including large groups.
  • Conduct field testing and support new product evaluations.
  • Benchmark competitor products and services to identify market insights and opportunities.
  • Support testing and validation of new products.

Location Information: The role is based at our Skills Development and Training Centre at MIRA Tech Park in Warwickshire, with regular travel to customer locations across the UK. Travel expectations: May include up to 50% domestic/international. This role has on‑site working model, with the employee working at least four days a week in the office at MIRA. Working pattern: full time.

Technical diploma or completed apprenticeship with a relevant technical qualification. Relevant experience in collision repair, damage estimation, or related industries such as vehicle manufacturing or maintenance, repair, and operations. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office. Strong hands‑on product demonstration and training capability. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

  • Experience in application engineering, technical service, technical training, technical sales, or bodyshop operations/management.
  • Good understanding of the vehicle insurance industry and related workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of bodyshop estimation processes and software.
  • Clear understanding of bodyshop business models and key profitability drivers.
  • Proactive, solution‑oriented approach with a strong "can do" mindset.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to analyze issues effectively, solve problems, and implement practical solutions.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to generate new ideas and alternative approaches.
