The Impact You'll Make in this Role

As a Digital Content Engineer for the Personal Safety Division located at the HQ in Bracknell, Berkshire, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. The person hired for this position will be responsible for designing and writing technical documentation for products such as user instructions, technical data sheets, quick reference guides, exploded assemblies of product, technical reference materials, technical translations, technical publications, etc. Clearly and accurately addresses the information needs of the applicable audience while also creating and finalizing other technical content.

Here, You Will Make An Impact By:

  • Designing and writing clear, accurate, user-focused instructional and reference documents using sound information and instructional design principles.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather information, verify accuracy, and maintain effective communication throughout product development.
  • Applying technical writing tools and departmental standards, including XML/DITA, publishing software, and documentation processes, to develop high-quality content.
  • Managing documentation plans, review cycles, and updates across product lines while improving document quality and usability.
  • Expanding knowledge of assigned products, audiences, and tools to support documentation improvements and department initiatives.

Your Skills And Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science-based discipline.
  • Has previous experience, gained in academic and/or industry settings, working with technical content in private, public, government, and/or military environments.
  • Demonstrates experience in XML/DITA structured content authoring using a content management system such as AEM Guides.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Relevant technical writing experience in an academic and/or industry setting.
  • Experience with key documentation and design tools, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, SharePoint, FrameMaker, AEM Guides/Assets, Microsoft Forms, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience creating and editing technical multimedia content and line drawings/illustrations.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital accessibility requirements and software; strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle confidential technical information.

Job Specifics

Location Information - Bracknell, Berkshire. This role has an on-site working model, with the employee working at least four days a week in the office at Bracknell. Working pattern - full time.
