These business units specialise in the core sectors of food & drink; FMCG; and retail, and have expertise in supply chains right back to agriculture, fisheries and other natural resources. Our work regularly interfaces with the interests of NGOs, policy-makers and local authorities.

Junior Consultants at 3Keel are starting out in their sustainability consulting career, so the role is ideal for recent graduates, or those with equivalent foundational experience from an apprenticeship or internship in a relevant field. They will bring this experience/learning to support the delivery of high quality and impactful projects, whilst also continually developing their knowledge and consulting skills. This will involve working closely with long-standing 3Keel clients, including retail, hospitality and FMCG manufacturing.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Project Management & Delivery
    • Contribute to high-quality, impactful project work for clients
    • Support work led by more senior staff (Consultant, Seniors, Principals or Directors), aiming to grow independence and skills
    • Track and manage internal systems and processes (e.g., logging time, tasks, and invoices)
  • Technical Expertise & Analysis
    • Interpret qualitative and quantitative data to provide clear insights to clients
    • Conduct research and distill complex topics to concise client-ready information
    • Contribute to knowledge management by participating in project reviews and building personal knowledge of relevant industry areas
  • Output & Communication
    • Generate reports, data, and presentations that meet 3Keel's required standards and client expectations
    • Use a variety of visual tools to display data and information in an easily digestible format for various audiences
    • Present information and ideas in a clear, timely, concise, and engaging way
    • Collaborate effectively and professionally with others to achieve common goals

What we’re looking for:

  • Self-starter and driven
  • Ability to acquire and digest complex qualitative and quantitative information from multiple sources to distil clear strategic insights
  • Great team working skills with evidence of working collaboratively on projects
  • Passion for finding solutions to complex sustainability problems
  • Some technical and policy/regulatory understanding of the corporate sustainability landscape
  • Clear and engaging writing style, excellent verbal communication and the ability to present complex information in a client-friendly way
  • Proficiency in using Excel and PowerPoint
  • Organised and systematic approach to work
  • Relevant academic background to degree level or equivalent foundational experience from apprenticeship or internship

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of FMCG supply chains, food systems, agriculture, and other land-based production systems
  • Data collection, cleaning and management skills
  • Experience of data analytics, visualisation and practical business intelligence software apps (e.g., intermediate to advanced MS Excel, MS PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, ETL tools)
  • Understanding of environmental metrics and standards (e.g. GHG Protocol, SBTi, TCFD)
  • Understanding of consultancy work: how consultancy businesses operate and basic knowledge of consulting skills

We are aware that some individuals feel they can only apply for roles if they meet almost 100% of the criteria, where the threshold might feel lower to others, so if you are considering applying for the role, but you are doubting your suitability and don’t feel you tick absolutely all the boxes, we encourage you to please apply anyway.

About 3Keel and Fera:

3Keel is an evidence-led sustainability consultancy, tackling risks and building resilience across supply chains, food systems, and landscapes. We address key sustainability issues and focus on innovations and coalition-building to develop approaches that challenge the status quo. We work with many leading businesses, NGOs and in partnership with academia. 3Keel is recognised by the FT as one of the UK’s leading Managing Consultancies for Sustainability. In April 2026, 3Keel began an exciting new chapter in the company’s 13-year development, joining Fera Science Ltd. as its advisory wing. 3Keel was acquired by Fera because the 3Keel directors saw the considerable opportunities to combine their proven advisory expertise with the science and unique technical abilities of Fera. 3Keel continues to operate as a distinct business unit within Fera, and as the two organisations collaborate more closely new joint services will be developed and launched. This is a position in 3Keel, although there will be plenty of exposure to - and opportunities with - the wider Fera business.

What’s in it for you?

  • 25 days’ holiday (rising to 29) with the opportunity to buy & sell extra leave
  • Flexible working hours
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Company-matched pension, life assurance, a cycle2work scheme…and plenty more.

How to apply:

Please apply with a CV and covering letter (not more than one side) outlining what makes you a good fit for the role. Please ensure you state which of the business units you are interested in applying to, in your application, if you have a preference. Application deadline: 3 August 2026.

Data privacy: Please note that any personal data submitted to 3Keel Group Ltd as part of the job application process will be processed in accordance with the GDPR and related UK data protection legislation.
