3D Technical Design Ltd (3DTD) is incorporated in the UK with an office in Thailand. We specialise in Heat Network Design and Project Development, offering Advanced Feasibility Studies, Detailed Project Design, Project Planning, and 3D Utility and Pipe Modelling for city-wide Heat Network projects. To complement this service, 3DTD also carry out feasibility studies and detailed design for energy centres, plant rooms, and substations.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated Land or Utility Surveyor to work in a design and delivery role in District Heating/the renewable energy sector. Experience in District Heating is not required as full training will be provided, but advanced 2D CAD skills and knowledge of 3D CAD work is a distinct advantage. The role will suit a junior surveyor seeking to work within the consultancy environment and who would like to gain practical site experience in this environment. This is a full-time, permanent position with a flexible working policy, and based remotely.
The successful candidate will be offered a 3-day induction carried out in the office in Milton Keynes and thereafter, a 6-month development programme. The mentored role will develop the right candidate towards efficiently delivering market-leading designs and reports for 3DTD clients, and they will gain practical experience across city-wide heat networks.
Experience & Core Skills- Minimum 3 years’ experience in land or underground utility surveying
- Advanced 2D CAD skills
- Construction CAD Experience
- Experience working with Point Cloud data would be beneficial
- 1-3 years’ experience in the construction industry
- Detail oriented
During the Initial Training Programme:
- Understand 3D Technical Design business model and key services
- Technical induction to CAD standards and layering
- 3D Technical Design Quality Systems
- Support the Network Design Team, through the provision of:
- Utility Tracing in CAD
- Obtaining Utility and Historical OS Maps
- Inserting DWG, PDF & Image files into drawings as X-References
- Overlaying historic maps and utility drawings within a current OS environment, ensuring major landmarks/buildings/roads are aligned using scale and alignment command functions
- Insert and update engineering annotations, attributes within drawings, which explain the Network Design Team’s key risks and observations
- Implementing layering systems with AutoCAD
- Dimensioning and measuring drawings in CAD
- Track and maintain data received files including OS, GIS and utility submissions.
- Extracting data from CAD environment
3DTD offers the opportunity to develop the role into a CAD Designer and assist with more complex CAD functions including the production of:
- Heat network feasibility route drawings
- 2D GA district heating pipe route drawings
- Communication duct route and chamber drawings
- Leak detection system drawings
- 3D isolation valve and air vent chamber models and drawings
- 3D route and construction drawing
- Feasibility and design HAZID identification
- 3D modelling utilities and pipe routes in accordance with BIM II
