On behalf of my client, I am recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager to work on an ongoing project in Central London for a highly renowned build and construction contractor. The role involves coordinating, supporting and advising the business on all aspects regarding Health and Safety.
Role responsibilities include:
- A safe workplace environment without risk to health.
- Ensuring that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
- Meeting statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
- Completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
- Documenting, investigating all accidents and implementing recommended improvements.
- Carrying out safety inspections, fire drills and ensuring fire alarms are correctly reported; managing safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures while ensuring employees are aware of their responsibilities.
- Development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
- Maintaining full and accurate health and safety and training records.
- Implementing a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.
- Establishing a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the company.
- Working with external health & safety consultants in the provision of training programmes and health and safety services.
- Devising the agenda for, chairing and formulating & distributing minutes for the Health & Safety Committee meetings.
- Ensuring that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.
- Staying up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicating relevant changes to the business.
- Providing regular reports to the Human Resources Manager, Board of Directors/Senior Management Team on relevant health and safety activities.
- Reporting on relevant health and safety matters in monthly meetings when required.
- Liaising with suppliers e.g. insurers, solicitors etc.
