An opportunity has arisen for a CSA Construction Manager on a major data centre project in Portugal. This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing the delivery of Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) work packages on a fast-track, highly technical project.
The successful candidate will be an experienced construction leader with a proven track record of developing and leading teams to deliver projects to the highest standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
The Role
- Lead and manage the CSA team (supervisors, engineers, and package managers) to ensure successful delivery of all CSA scope.
- Oversee site safety in conjunction with the Project Manager and Safety Team, embedding a strong culture of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental excellence.
- Coordinate and monitor procurement, design, engineering, and installation of CSA works.
- Develop a delivery strategy for CSA work packages, supporting the commercial team in preparing scope documents and subcontract packages.
- Review client designs, identify discrepancies or deviations from standards, and lead resolution to protect contractual and commercial interests.
- Work closely with QA/QC teams to develop and manage site quality plans, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Manage day-to-day site operations, including subcontractor performance, resource allocation, and progress tracking.
- Develop, manage, and report on project schedules in conjunction with Planning, Project Management, and subcontractors.
- Liaise with the design team to prioritise and issue required construction information in line with programme demands.
- Chair and host weekly progress meetings with CSA subcontractors, ensuring accurate documentation and records are maintained.
- Attend project meetings (internal reviews, design coordination, planning, handover) and provide clear reporting to management.
- Oversee project close-out activities including punch lists, safety files, QA documentation, and handover requirements.
- Support commercial meetings, ensuring all variations are captured and communicated to enable accurate client change management.
- Review drawings and setting-out information, and ensure coordination of builders' works drawings related to MEP services.
- Prepare and issue daily and weekly project reports.
Requirements
- Relevant construction-related degree, equivalent qualification, or relevant experience.
- Proven experience as a CSA Construction Manager or in a similar senior role on large-scale construction projects β data centre experience highly desirable.
- Strong track record in managing and successfully delivering CSA work packages.
- Ability to maintain oversight of the overall project while managing technical details.
- Experience in project scheduling, programming, sequencing, and producing look-ahead forecasts.
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing internal construction teams.
- Experience delivering large-scale, fast-track, and technically complex projects.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
