Due to continuing success and growth, we have an excellent opportunity for a Design Manager.
The Role:
- As our Design Manager, it will be your responsibility to take the Scheme through from Planning approval/Contract execution to our commencement on site.
- You will be responsible for the co-ordination and approval of all construction drawings and information to ensure these meet our budgets and our clients' requirements.
Main Duties Include:
- Liaise with Land & Planning Manager at integral stages of the Planning submissions.
- Identify, appoint & manage external design teams to meet the project brief and ensure the design programmes are achieved.
- Appoint and co-ordinate all relevant testing and reports to assist in the completion of designs and planning.
- Knowledge and experience in production of CSHSP.
- Liaise with all stakeholders in the project to ensure all information is provided at required stages.
- Organise, participate, and record Design Review Meetings.
- Liaise with the Commercial Team to ensure the designs are within the project budget.
- Co-ordinate the Planning Submission & Discharge of Conditions.
- Review and manage the flow of information to ensure all technical details are incorporated into design.
- Research and explore different design options to improve build quality and explore potential value engineering options for better performance on quality & cost.
- Review of design and construction information to ensure it complies with the client requirements.
- Manage and co-ordinate Section Agreements process.
- Understand the duties for Client, Principal Designer and Designers under CDM regulations.
- Integrated Management System (IMS): adhere to requirements, procedures and policies.
- Liaise with our Construction Teams at the handover of a scheme from Pre-construction to onsite and ensure all relevant and key information is distributed to the construction team.
Experience:
- Relevant construction or architectural qualification.
- Previous experience in an equivalent or similar role within the construction industry.
- Good knowledge of the design process and construction design stages with a Main Contractor.
- Technical knowledge and the ability to use design and project management software.
The Person:
- Understand the Planning Process and the part Section Agreements and their timelines take in the process.
- Understanding of key design principles such as fire and acoustic requirements.
- Good knowledge of current building regulations, SAP calculations and their impact on design.
- An excellent communicator with the ability to build design team rapport, negotiation, motivational and analytical skills.
