I am currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major programme of regulated utilities and water infrastructure works, delivered through a growing award winning project consultancy. This role is ideal for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working in client environments, providing hands on delivery and trusted commercial advice across complex capital investment programmes.
The Project
You will be working on long term regulated utilities infrastructure programmes, supporting the delivery of capital works, asset upgrades and investment projects within a highly governed environment. The role spans both pre and post contract stages and involves close collaboration with delivery teams, contractors and client stakeholders. Projects are technically complex and commercially demanding, requiring strong cost control, contract administration and risk management capability. The position will be based from the Tamworth office 3 to 4 days per week, reflecting the need for regular engagement with the wider project and commercial teams. The remaining time will be split between home working and project sites depending on project needs.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will deliver end to end commercial and quantity surveying services across assigned projects and programmes. Acting as an embedded consultant, you will support robust commercial governance, accurate cost reporting and effective management of risk and change. You will also play a key role in stakeholder engagement and in supporting the development of junior commercial professionals within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre and post contract quantity surveying services across major utilities infrastructure projects
- Prepare, review and manage cost plans, estimates, budgets, forecasts and final accounts
- Provide accurate and timely cost reporting and financial control to client stakeholders
- Support procurement activities including tender preparation, evaluation, contract award and commercial negotiations
- Administer construction contracts including NEC and JCT forms, managing change control, compensation events and claims
- Identify, assess and manage commercial risks and opportunities in collaboration with wider project teams
- Support value management and cost optimisation initiatives
- Act as a trusted consultant embedded within client teams
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders
- Mentor and support junior quantity surveying and commercial staff
About You
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
- Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor within utilities infrastructure or major capital programmes
- Strong pre and post contract commercial management experience
- Solid working knowledge of cost management, change control and contract administration
- Chartered or working towards Chartership (MRICS or equivalent preferred)
- Experience working in a consultancy or client facing environment advantageous
- Comfortable working in a project led office based role with regular on site presence
