3D Personnel are currently recruiting for two Estimators (Mechanical or Electrical bias) to join a growing Estimating & Proposals team, based out of a Southampton Head Office. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in Mechanical or Electrical estimating, or for candidates currently working in M&E Project Management / Contracts Management who have had exposure to bid work and are looking to move into a dedicated estimating role.
You will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates, along with the technical and commercial submission documentation, across a wide range of M&E engineering projects in the UK and overseas.
The Role
- Preparing multi-discipline proposals across the process, water & waste sector, as well as the energy sector
- Managing your own workload within a small team, working to deadline-driven priorities
- Reviewing and fully understanding client specifications, drawings and submission requirements
- Compiling and collating documentation, schedules, data sheets and supporting information for formal submissions
- Establishing preliminary and detailed project requirements, including programmes and value engineering solutions
- Liaising with in-house M&E design teams as required
- Coordinating with suppliers, specialist subcontractors and internal resources
- Producing material, labour, plant and subcontractor cost analysis spreadsheets
- Preparing preliminary programmes
- Attending internal and external progress / review meetings
- Attending site visits and client meetings when required
- Considering site safety, health and environmental requirements throughout bid submissions
Skills & Experience
To be considered, you will ideally have:
- Knowledge of contract conditions, particularly the NEC suite of contracts
- Strong IT literacy including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and MS Project
- A confident and organised approach, able to work under pressure and meet short deadlines
Qualifications / Background
- HNC/HND/BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Previous experience in estimating, project management or design
- Water industry experience (advantageous but not essential)
