Are you an experienced HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment? We are seeking a proactive and people-focused Group HR Manager to support a successful and growing grocery retail group. This is a varied and hands-on role where you'll work closely with store owners and management teams to drive employee engagement, ensure legal compliance, lead recruitment activities and support the ongoing development of staff across multiple locations.

The Role

As Group HR Manager, you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive HR service across the business, ensuring best practice in employee relations, recruitment, training, payroll administration and compliance. You will play a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture while supporting operational and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment and selection processes;
  • Support workforce planning and staffing requirements across stores;
  • Process weekly payroll and monitor wage budgets;
  • Oversee employee onboarding, probation reviews and personnel records;
  • Maintain attendance, holiday and leave management systems;
  • Support managers with disciplinary, grievance and investigation processes;
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies;
  • Coordinate Health & Safety, Food Safety and mandatory training programmes;
  • Drive employee engagement and effective communication throughout the business;
  • Support annual training needs analysis and development planning;
  • Promote a positive, high-performing and customer-focused workplace culture;
  • Liaise with management teams on all employee-related matters.

About You

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar HR position;
  • CIPD qualification desirable;
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience supporting employee relations matters;
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities;
  • Commercial mindset with an understanding of business objectives;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment;
  • Previous retail, grocery or FMCG experience would be advantageous.
