3D People · Woolwich, south-east London · Full time, on site · £30,000–£35,000 depending on experience
If you like knowing how things are made and helping people get theirs made right, this role is for you. It combines sales and customer support, from quotes and orders to following up and looking after accounts, with design and engineering: checking and fixing 3D files, advising on materials and finishes, and working with our production team to get parts made well.
You'll work alongside our Additive Manufacturing Manager and our Technical Consultant, who will train you and back you up on the tricky jobs. It's a great fit for someone early in their career who likes engineering and people in equal measure.
About 3D People
3D People is an industrial 3D printing company in London. We make production parts in nylon and TPU using HP Multi Jet Fusion and SLS, for engineers and designers across automotive, industrial equipment, robotics, marine, product design and more.
We've developed our own software for self-service online quoting and for managing production. It lets us handle anything from a single part to thousands of individual components, and deliver them right and on time. We're growing, and much of that growth comes from the systems we've built: they make us very efficient, so our people have time to put in extra care where it's needed.
What you'll do
Sales and customers
- Reply to quote requests and customer questions by email and phone, quickly and clearly
- Prepare and send quotes, using our quoting system and AI tools that draft replies for you to check and improve
- Handle order admin: purchase orders, address changes, invoice copies and delivery updates
- Follow up on customers that have gone quiet, abandoned carts and on sample packs we've sent, and find out why people did or didn't order
- Check in with new customers after their first order, and keep in touch with regular accounts so they keep coming back
- Keep the CRM up to date so the whole team can see what's happening with each customer
Design and engineering
- Check customers' 3D files for printability and flag issues like thin walls, small features or trapped powder
- Fix or adapt files where it's quick to do so, and explain to customers what needs changing when it isn't
- Advise customers on the right process, material and finish for their part
- Work with the production team on part preparation and lead times for trickier jobs
- As you grow in the role, you'll help with design-for-additive advice and more technical questions
What we're looking for
- A genuine interest in sales and in design or engineering, in equal measure
- Quick and clear written communication: you can take in a long customer email and reply clearly and correctly
- Highly organised: you keep track of lots of small jobs at once and nothing falls through the cracks
- Comfortable picking up the phone, including calling customers back to follow up
- Experience with CAD or 3D modelling software (for example Fusion 360, SolidWorks or similar)
- Practical and curious about how things are made
Nice to have
- Experience with 3D printing, especially MJF or SLS
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering or a technical sales role
- A degree or qualification in product design, mechanical engineering or similar
