The role:

We’re looking for an organised, proactive and experienced Transport & Fleet Manager to join our team. This is a key office-based role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management, compliance, and performance of our growing fleet of HGVs, plant, sweepers, concrete wagons, and support vehicles operating across highways, construction, and infrastructure projects nationwide. Working closely with operations, drivers and our in-house maintenance team, you’ll help ensure our fleet remains safe, compliant, efficient and ready to deliver the high standards our customers expect. You’ll also act as a key point of contact for external compliance consultants, supporting the ongoing management of fleet, safety, and operational compliance systems, and assisting with audits, inspections, and accreditation requirements. Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the company fleet
  • Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence obligations and DVSA requirements
  • Manage vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections and servicing programmes
  • Monitor driver hours, tachograph compliance and defect reporting
  • Coordinate MOT preparation and fleet availability with workshop teams
  • Maintain accurate fleet, compliance and maintenance records to a high standard
  • Support transport planning and vehicle allocation where required
  • Liaise with drivers, operatives, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Assist with incident investigations and compliance reporting
  • Help maintain high standards of health & safety and operational compliance across the fleet
  • Support continuous improvement of fleet systems and processes

What we’re looking for:

  • Transport Manager CPC-qualified
  • Previous experience in a transport, fleet or logistics management role
  • Thorough understanding of fleet compliance, maintenance and transport legislation
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Proactive, reliable and solutions-focused attitude
  • Experience within the highways, construction or heavy haulage sectors would be advantageous
