WHAT DOES AN ENGINEERING SUPPORT TECHNICIAN DO?

An Engineering Support Technician works to deliver best-in-class engineering operations across multiple upper-tier COMAH sites within the Spirits Engineering department. Their key responsibilities include document management—such as maintaining engineering standards and CAD drawings. They act as custodians of all supporting documentation for maintenance and project engineering functions and contribute to Continuous Improvement activities at Bacardi to ensure that:

  • All relevant Bacardi and legislative standards are current and accessible to the UKSC Engineering Team
  • All process and GA drawings are up-to-date, in CAD format, and stored in a controlled document process
  • A complete document management system for engineering resources is implemented and maintained
  • Assist in developing engineering personnel according to skills matrix and CTMS process
  • Support engineering performance reporting and process improvements
  • Strive to enhance performance aligning with World Class Manufacturing standards

RESPONSIBILITIES

With Our Consumer At The Heart, Your Key Responsibilities Will Be To

  • Implement and manage an effective document management process for the UKSC Engineering Team
  • Develop and maintain engineering drawings—P&IDs, GAs, electrical, gas, schematics, site, HAC. Update drawings and ensure registers are accurate and controlled
  • Custodian of all Spirits Engineering SOPs, Work Instructions, and Risk Assessments
  • Assist with project development from concept to implementation, testing, and handover, updating asset drawings and registers accordingly
  • Recommend and advise on engineering process improvements for continuous improvement activities
  • Support the development of the engineering team, including managing CTMS and skills matrix
  • Support external suppliers/contractors and manage PTW requirements for contractor work
  • Support Maintenance Manager and Coordinator as needed
  • Suggest improvements for asset operation and participate actively in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement processes
  • Maintain work area to 5S standards, ensuring safety and efficiency
  • Contribute to team KPIs and participate in training to enhance skills, including CompEx in hazardous environments
  • Proactively monitor performance, challenge underperformance, and respond with solutions
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and eliminate hazards

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Formal engineering qualification (HNC/HND or similar)
  • Proficiency in CAD packages

EXPERIENCE

  • Maintenance of P&ID and GA drawings on CAD
  • Document management in an operational environment
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience in creating technical documents and reports
  • Experience in FMCG, preferably spirits industry
  • Understanding of hazardous environments (ATEX/DSEAR)
  • Knowledge of engineering standards (PSSR, LOLER, PUWER)
  • Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies (LEAN, FMECA, TPM)
  • Ability to build networks and support across multiple sites; team management experience is a plus
