On behalf of our client who is situated in the heart of Worcestershire, providing Engineering assistance and solutions to many exciting sectors. Due to increased demand within the department, our client now has a requirement for a Quality Engineer.

Your main purpose is to provide a proactive and cross-functional conduit between the Quality and Manufacturing teams, developing cost-effective and efficient production methods to meet customer requirements whilst complying with relevant Standards. Where necessary, it may be a requirement to deputise for the Quality Senior, therefore acting as Quality Representative in their absence.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Exercise the highest degree of discretion and professionalism when dealing with sensitive data and information.
- Assisting the Quality Team to achieve departmental requirements.
- Create documentation necessary to reflect the work breakdown structures necessary to manufacture products, components, and systems, in a safe and time-efficient manner, ensuring production targets and timescales are achieved.
- Provide feedback to the Production Engineering and Estimating teams as required, to support future business opportunities/bids.
- Provide technical support to Production personnel, ensuring all queries are addressed in a timely fashion.
- Assisting and managing the transfer of information provided to the Production Engineering Department in relation to Change Control of engineering drawings.
- Evaluation of Build documentation, identifying opportunities for improvements and further requirements, creating and/or updating as required to meet the needs of relevant parties.
- Manage non-conformances resulting from systems and manufacturing outputs, updating register(s) – Internal/Customer/Supplier, proactively escalating and progressing as appropriate to resolve issues in a timely manner, meeting expectations.
- Perform regular and routine Patrol Inspections of all manufacture areas, recording data as appropriate/required.
- Responsible for the review and development of manufacturing processes, conducting quality checks, troubleshooting faulty parts, Jigs, and fixtures.
- Assist with the planning and co-ordination of effective production and quality product(s).
- Collation and updating KPI data and Communications Boards.
- Assist with reviewing and updating Training Matrices of Production and Inspection Personnel.
Qualifications:
- Degree (Engineering discipline Desirable).
- Demonstrable experience/portfolio.
- Auditor training (Preferred).
Previous experience:
ESSENTIAL:
- Minimum of 3 years current experience within a similar position, industry, and engineering environment.
- Leading/championing projects.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- A strong background and experience of document and data control.
- Quality aware (BS EN ISO 9001: current version), and experience of working within a customer-focused environment.
- Effective prioritisation of workload and ability to perform duties whilst under minimum supervision.
- Experience with detailed report writing, WI’s, QA, Safety.
- Strong IT skills, data entry, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Working proactively and efficiently to deadlines, and engaged to achieving time-bound targets.
- Excellent team player with a proactive hands-on approach.
- Flexibility to performing other tasks if required, and willing to learn new skills.
- Inspection activities, checking processes and procedural requirements of industries including Defence, Rail, Automotive.
- Strong problem-solving skills, applying ‘root-cause’ analysis tools (8D, 5Y’s, similar), to confidently make informed, evidence-based decisions.
- Producing quality documentation in line with customer requirements (P)FMEA, Control Plans).
DESIRABLE:
- Use of CMM/multi-axis measuring apparatus, e.g. FARO.
- Experience with performing the creation of FAI documentation.
- Qualified/current experience of using Lean Six Sigma.
- Planning experience, NPI, and product life cycle.
- Experience of working within the guidelines of EN (phone number removed), ISO 3834, ISO 14001, 45001 (18001).
- Experience of Defence (AQAP’s, Mil Std’s), Rail (RIS), and Automotive (IATF) Standards.
- Experience of Supply Chain management – Supplier development and auditing.
Package:
- Monday – Friday (subject to change depending on business requirements)
- Core Hours 07:45 – 17:00 Monday – Thursday and 07:45 – 13:00 on a Friday.
- 39 hours of work per week. You may be expected to work any additional hours depending on business requirements.
