An established precision engineering and manufacturing business in Northamptonshire is looking to appoint an experienced Technical Buyer to support the day-to-day management of purchasing, supplier coordination and procurement activity across the business. Operating within a highly regulated technical environment supplying sectors such as aerospace, automotive and defence, this role plays a key part in ensuring materials, components and subcontract services are sourced efficiently, competitively and in line with production requirements. This is a hands-on buying role suited to somebody with previous engineering or manufacturing purchasing experience who is confident managing supplier quotations, purchase orders, expediting deliveries and controlling supplier performance.

Main Duties

  • Preparing and issuing Request for Quotations (RFQs) across engineering materials, components and subcontract services
  • Reviewing supplier quotations and benchmarking pricing
  • Negotiating supplier costs, lead times and purchasing terms
  • Raising and managing purchase orders from placement through to delivery
  • Expediting suppliers to ensure materials arrive in line with production deadlines
  • Resolving supply delays, shortages, discrepancies and urgent order amendments
