Are you an experienced Payroll Manager looking for a role where you can take real ownership and be part of a genuinely supportive team? We're recruiting for a well-established business within the renewable energy and sustainability sector — a growing, forward-thinking organisation with a strong reputation and a positive working environment. This is a hands-on role, taking responsibility for weekly end-to-end payroll for 500+ employees, while also supporting HR systems and the employee lifecycle.

Why this role? The biggest selling point here is simple: the manager. She has been described by employees time and time again as "the best manager I've ever had." She is known for being:

  • Supportive and approachable
  • Kind, funny, and a pleasure to work for
  • Genuinely invested in her team
  • Able to give autonomy while always being there when needed

If you value strong leadership and a positive culture, this is a rare opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full ownership of weekly end-to-end payroll for 500+ employees
  • Processing overtime, SSP, SMP, bonuses, deductions, and adjustments
  • Ensuring compliance with HMRC, RTI submissions, pensions, and payroll legislation
  • Managing and resolving payroll queries
  • Maintaining and improving digital payroll and HR systems
  • Supporting starters, leavers, contractual changes, and employee lifecycle processes
  • Producing reports, reconciliations, and audit support
  • Working closely with HR and finance teams

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience as a Payroll Manager, Senior Payroll Officer, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance
  • Experience managing high-volume payroll, ideally 500+ employees
  • Confidence using HRIS and payroll systems
  • Strong attention to detail with a hands-on, organised approach
  • Exposure to HR administration and the employee lifecycle would be advantageous

What's on offer

  • £30,000 – £35,000
  • Opportunity to join a unique and growing business
  • A genuinely supportive and highly regarded manager
  • A stable, long-term role with real ownership and variety

If you're looking for a payroll role where you'll be trusted, supported, and valued as part of a great team, we'd love to hear from you.
