Armstrong Logistics in Lutterworth are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to support the payroll function on an initial 2-month contract. This is an office-based role at their Wellington Park Way site, ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on with payroll processing, data accuracy, and supporting employee queries.

The Role

You’ll be supporting payroll processing and administration, ensuring everything is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time. You’ll work closely with internal teams to ensure payroll inputs are correct and payroll-related queries are handled professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Processing payroll changes including starters, leavers, amendments and ad-hoc payments
  • Checking and validating payroll inputs (hours/overtime/allowances/deductions)
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records and supporting audit-ready processes
  • Assisting with HMRC submissions (including FPS) and general payroll compliance
  • Supporting statutory payments where required (SSP/SMP/SPP etc.)
  • Supporting pension updates and payroll deductions where applicable
  • Handling payroll queries from employees in a timely and confidential manner
  • Working alongside HR/Finance to ensure payroll data is aligned and up to date

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a payroll position (Payroll Officer / Payroll Administrator / Payroll Assistant / Payroll Clerk)
  • Comfortable working at pace with strong attention to detail
  • Confident using Excel and payroll systems (any payroll software experience is beneficial)
  • Strong communication skills and professional approach to confidential information
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work office-based in Lutterworth
